New Jersey State AFL-CIO Joins With Building Our Future Coalition to Support $750 Million Higher Education Bond Issue
TRENTON ? New Jersey State AFL-CIO President Charles Wowkanech stated, ?All sectors of the New Jersey labor movement have a stake in the effort to approve Ballot Question #1. Improving and expanding our higher education institutions will not only create thousands of jobs in the construction industry, but will also create jobs to maintain these new facilities, create teaching jobs, expand educational opportunity for New Jersey students, and keep New Jersey?s most talented students in the state and in our workplaces.?
?Ballot Question #1 represents an investment in our children, grandchildren, and in our future. At the same time, this initiative invests in the present moment, by creating jobs, enhancing student education, and benefitting businesses in our state,? said President Wowkanech. ?This is a common sense bipartisan measure that we will continue to educate our affiliates and community allies between now and Election Day.?
?Through this initiative, we are training and better preparing students to succeed in the workplace, be it in the medical field, public sector, academia, construction industry, business and professional sector, transportation industry, or criminal justice sector,? said President Wowkanech. ?This investment benefits our communities and the quality of life in our state.?
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is proud to be a member of the bipartisan Building Our Future coalition which launched its campaign yesterday to build support for Ballot Question #1 which would authorize $750 million for New Jersey higher education construction projects.
